3.2.20
Well this has been a month of change. To start off the story, a little background. I currently serve in my daughter's school on the PTA board. I started off this year with high hopes. You know the kind, "Making everything bigger & better," "Doing all of the things." Basically trying to make those changes where you feel that previous years could have improved. And at first it was amazing. Feeling as though I was making a difference was important to me. However, around October I hit a roadblock. I was burnt out & just plain exhausted. The time off for the Thanksgiving & winter breaks helped, but I spent a lot of time still thinking about events, plans, etc. Nominations for the next school year were coming up & I knew that it was time for me to take a break & sit the next year out.
Since I had made that decision, I started to think about what I wanted my time at her school to look like. I have volunteered in her classes in the past & I knew there was one PTA event I would more than likely chair. But with her going into 4th grade in the fall, parent presence is not needed as strongly as in the younger grades. Then it came to me. Substituting. I have been a substitute teacher in the past, when London was in 1st grade & Caden was in 7th. I did classes at both of their schools & absolutely loved it. Our area is in desperate need of subs so I knew that there were openings. I applied, had my orientation last week & am just waiting for my website login info so I can start accepting jobs. I have decided to only take them at London's school for now. It narrows my available jobs, but with me having to be the one to get her to & from school, it's the best choice for now. I am so excited & can't wait to see what this new adventure brings!
Until next time-
Ashley
